This night. Where to even begin?
I guess we can start with the location; the gorgeous historical Haynes Ranch just outside of Osoyoos, British Columbia, which was built in the late 1800's. So cool.
Next, the family. What a family. So fun. So inviting. And can we talk about the outfits? I had discussed the vibe and feeling that mom, Lori, was hoping to achieve with this family portrait session, but holy, did they nail the outfits. The way the colours go without matching. How each girl got to showcase her personality through little touch. I swooned!
And then to top it all off, the colours of the evening. It's hard to have a bad night in Osoyoos in August, but the landscape was showing off for us this night. The greens and blues of the mountains and sage brush, mixed with the golden yellow grass, the dark, old wood of the buildings. DREAMS!
I just love getting to capture families. To tell their stories. Sure, there is some editing and of course no one dresses in complimentary pastel dresses everyday. But you can see the joy and love show through.
We had some much fun mixing traditional portraits in with artistic editorial style moments and more modern poses. I could have stayed for hours! And we were all there, together, for quite a while. Each girl was coming up with fun and individual ideas. Dad was relaxed and enjoying himself. Mom was so happy to know that we were working together to create lasting memories. This family session in the Okanagan desert will always be a favourite of mine.
What more could you ask for? Not much in my books!
